The New Farmers' Market
Farm-Fresh Ideas for Producers, Managers & Communities

If you are a farmer, market manager or city planner and want to succeed at farmers markets, The New Farmers’ Market: Farm-Fresh Ideas for Producers, Managers & Communities is the book for you! Written by Vance Corum, Marcie Rosenzweig, and Eric Gibson, The New Farmers’ Market covers the latest tips & trends from leading-edge sellers, managers and market planners all over the country.

In Part I (Selling at the Market), the authors talk about best products to grow and sell at the markets, how to combine farmers’ markets with other outlets, record-keeping, display, merchandising and much, much more.

Part II (Starting, Managing & Promoting the Market) talks about every aspect imaginable of starting, managing and promoting the market: location, attracting vendors, rules and regulations, insurance, practical solutions to mAuthorsarket issues such as “farmer-grown,” advertising, special events, establishing a market web site, and, again, much more. The 43-page chapter on market promotion alone is worth the price of the book!

Part III (The New Farmers’ Market) talks about educating the community about the value of fresh, local foods and farmers’ markets and about how farmers’ markets can serve the community.

Free downloadable selections from the book, including "Hottest Products to Sell," "Selling to Ethnic Groups," "Special Events at your Market" and "Getting Grants for your Market" are available at www.nwpub.net.

Appendices cover insurance, customer surveys, farmers’ market profitability, and benefits of farmers’ markets. A seven-page list of Resources is invaluable for locating scales, baskets, packaging materials, and much more!

Vance Corum since 1979 has helped over 65 communities establish new markets. As a consultant in farmers’ market development, research and management, he has visited markets in many parts of the world and developed publicity campaigns, tasting events, TV shows, magazine articles, seminars and more on every aspect of market development.

Marcie Rosenzweig for 12 years operated a market farm with multiple sales outlets including local farmers’ markets she helped establish. She is also the author of Market Farm Forms.

Eric Gibson is the author of the widely-acclaimed Sell What You Sow! The Grower’s Guide To Successful Produce Marketing.

The New Farmers’ Market is a “must have” for growers interested in selling their farm or market garden products through farmers markets, as well as managers and city planners alike.
